The scenic meadow of Sonmarg lies at an altitude of 3,000 m above sea level and is just 87 km northeast of Srinagar. Apart from that, Sonmarg is also the place from where begin the trekking routes that lead to the Himalayan lakes including Vishansar (4084 msl), Krishnasar (3810 msl) and Gangabal (3658 msl).
