Owned and operated by Tiger Mountain India, Ladakh Sarai is a unique yurt camp situated a few minute's drive from Leh. The Ladakh Sarai is an ideal base from which to explore Ladakh's ancient Buddhist monasteries or take a raft trip on the Indus. The spacious canvas and bamboo yurts of Ladakh Sarai have a diameter of 15 feet and have been specially fabricated by hand. These retain the essential characteristics of the original Central Asian and Mongolian akois, on which they are modeled. Furnished in soft pastels, each yurt has comfortable twin beds and a cozy sitting area. A circular opening in the centre of the canvas roof lets in natural light and the warmth of the sun during the day, while in the evening illumination is provided by subtle electric lights, supplemented by kerosene lamps. Individual bathrooms where hot water is provided in buckets, are adjoining to each yurt.

It has an attractive hexagonal building, designed after a traditional Ladakhi house, which serves as a rendezvous for meals and gatherings. To relax in the sun and enjoy the beauty of the mountains and tranquil surroundings, Hammocks and lounge chairs are always available on the lawns and the patio adjoining the dining hall. Linen is laundered daily. There are facilities for personal laundry but as the process is time consuming, it is better to have sufficient clothes to last a few days.

THE PACKAGE RATES INCLUDE

Accommodation in comfortable twin-bedded yurts all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and tea and coffee throughout the day airport transfers, as applicable sightseeing of Stok Palace, museum and village; Leh town, Sankar, Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, Spituk and Phyang gompas, day raft trip or day walk in the surrounding hills - all depending on the length of stay. services of local English-speaking guides, entry fees to gompas

BOOKING CONDITIONS

The Ladakh Sarai is open from June through September. Bookings for the last two weeks of May and first two weeks of October are accepted only on "weather permitting" basis.

A deposit of 50% is required to hold space on firm basis. The balance payment is required 30 days prior to arrival at the Ladakh Sarai. A cancellation charge of 50% is levied on all bookings cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival at the Ladakh Sarai.

One night's charge is levied in case of "no shows" due to flight cancellations, road closures or any other force majeure. Due to strict rules and regulations laid down by the Ladakh Taxi Union, vehicles belonging to the Union only are used. The quality and type of vehicles used for transfers and sightseeing are beyond the control of Ladakhi Sarai.
