Importance of Sindhu River
Originating from Tibetan plateau and flowing down from the mighty Kailash mountain, Sindhi river is revered and worshiped by the pilgrims for ages. Around this scared river has evolved a diverse ecosystem and the very essence of the Indian civilization. The Sindhu river is considered to be the symbol of communal harmony and peace in India.

Place of Celebrations
Sindhu Darshan festival is one of the major events in Ladakh, which awaits tourists from every corner of the world. The festival is celebrated on the banks of river Sindhu. It falls in the month of June every year.

Significance of Sindhu Darshan
The religious festival is dedicated to Sindhu river, which is believed to be enriching humankind from time immemorial. Sindhu river holds pride in being one of the world's longest river which is believed to be the symbol of multi-dimensional cultural identity and communal peace and harmony co-existence in India. Sindhu Darshan is also celebrated as a symbolic salute and homage to the brave and courageous soldiers who sacrificed there life in guarding Indian borders from external attacks.

Celebrations of Sindhu Darshan
Sindhu Darshan festival begins with mega reception ceremony, organized by many renowned Religious associations like Ladakh Buddhist Association, Hindu Trust, Sunni Anjumam, Christian Moravian Church, Shia Majilis and Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee. The festival features a several cultural programs performed by the people from different states.

On this auspicious occasion, people flocks near the holy Sindhu river and celebrates the festival with great fervor and enthusiasm. People from different parts of the country carry a earthen pots filled with water and immerse them in Sindhu river. This ceremony depicts the love and respect of Indians toward Sindhu river, which is a symbol of unity in diversity in India.

Bonfire is held in the evening. Visitors sing songs and dance around the bonfire. Everybody enjoys the evening in their own way and then relish at delicious dinner. The festival is celebrated with gusto of patriotism.
