One of the picturesque region in Ladakh is Suru valley. The valley sprawls for 140 km beyond Kargil to the Penzi la pass, an entry point to the Zanskar valley. Lying on the foothills of the great Himalayan Wall, the splendid beauty of mesmerizing surroundings beckons every globetrotter. The hill town turns out to be more appealing during the autumn season when apricot, apple and mulberry blooms, laden with fruits.

Tourist Attractions in Suru Valley
Trespone -Trespone is a paradise for nature lovers. The quaint village offers panoramic view of the lofty mountains covered with carpets of wide range of vegetation. Trespone is popular for its hilltop – Imambara, which reflects a fine blend of Islamic and Tibetan elements in its construction style.

Sankoo - Another major attraction in the Suru Valley is Sankoo. The picturesque township offers spectacular views of majestic mountains crowned by snow-capped peaks and pure white shimmering glaciers descending along the slopes of Himalayas. The landscapes of the bowl-shaped Sankoo valley are covered with plantations of willows, poplars and wild roses. The valley is drained by two large tributary streams – Kartse and Nakpo-chu.

Panikhar - The base station for undertaking mountaineering expeditions to the several Himalayan peaks, Panikhar is the must visiting place in Suru valley. The vintage point lies under the shadows of the Nun-Kun massif and provides spectacular views of Mt. Nun.



Kartse-Khar - Have an enchanting experience of traveling round the Kartse-Khar. It is an ancient village located near the mouth of the valley. The most heart stealing attraction of this place is a 7m tall rock sculpture of the “Future Buddha”, which is evident to passage of Buddhist missionaries during 7th and 8th century AD. .

- Topographical features of Nubra valley facilitates the possibilities of trekking. Trekkers can explore some of the most fascinating trek routes and admire the scenic locales of the region.

Best time to visit
June to October is the best time to visit Suru valley. Rest of the months the valley enjoys heavy snowfall and accessibility is not possible.
